Livello Due. Mercoledì, il ventisette febbraio. Settima lezione

Level Two. Wednesday, February 27. Seventh Lesson

-Compiti (homework) is at the bottom of this page. ____________________________________________________

- Gli argomenti (the topics):
_
- Passato prossimo: verbs that take avere. See pages 213 through 216.
Ho guardato "gli Academy Awards" domenica. - I watched the Academy Awards Sunday.
Ho sciato a Mount Hood ieri. - I skiied at Mount Hood yesterday.
Ho fatto un viaggio. - I took a trip.
- Passato prossimo: verbs that take avere (continued). We continued through the white handout, (click here for the answers for all the sentences we've done so far)
_
- Volere (very politely): the conditional tense.
Vorrei... - I would like...
Vorresti... - You would like...
Vorrebbe... - He, She, You (formal) would like...
Vorremmo... - We would like...
Vorreste... - You (plural) would like...
Vorrebbero... - They would like...
Use this the same way you would use volere in the present tense. Using the conditional makes it even more polite. There's nothing impolite about "voglio", it's just fun to learn this conjugation. Just like in English, it sounds a little more elegant:
Voglio andare. - I want to go.
Vorrei andare. - I would like to go.
_
Vuoi un po' di vino? - Do you want a little wine?
Vorresti un po' di vino? - Would you like a little wine?
_
Vuole fare un giro con noi? - Do you (formal) want to take a trip with us?
Vorrebbe fare un giro con noi? - Would you (formal) like to take a trip with us?
_
etc.
- "Parlate con Noi". We read page 17 in our little booklet. Sharon did a wonderful dramatic recitation of Maria and Chiara getting ready to go to the movie. We will have the award ceremony next week (since I forgot the prize). We did this two-way translation exercise based on that dialog:
1.        Where are you?
2.        Sono qui, in cucina.
3.        Are you ready?
4.        No, non ancora.
5.        How come?
6.        Il film comincia fra 15 minuti.
7.        Where’s dad?
8.        È fuori, in giardino.
9.        He’s always in the garden.
10.     Siamo in ritardo.
11.     You’re (pl) always late.
12.     Non è vero.
13.     I’m ready now!
14.     Andiamo.

1.        Dove sei?
2.        I’m here, in the kitchen.
3.        Sei pronta/pronto?
4.        No, not yet.
5.        Come mai?
6.        The movie starts in 15 minutes.
7.        Dove il babbo?
8.        He’s outside, in the garden.
9.        È sempre in giardino.
10.     We’re late.
11.     Siete sempre in ritardo.
12.     That’s not true.
13.     Sono pronto/pronta adesso!
14.     Let’s go!

_

Vedo l'albergo. - I see the hotel.
Lo vedo. - I see it.
_

Voglio vederla. - I want to see it.
