3. Ivory handout: (side 2). (click here for the handout). This is an exercise in the trapassato. (page 203 and 204 in your book). Here's the tricky part: each sentence-pair starts on the RIGHT side of the timeline, then proceeds to the LEFT (farther back in the past). The example, La scorsa estate sono andato in vacanza negli USA. L'estate precedente ero andato in Tailandia. Last summer I went on vacation in the USA. The previous summer I had gone to Thailand.
Some example answers (you could make up ANY statements, using the appropriate tenses):
1. Lo scorso fine settimana ho studiato pagina 204. Il fine settimana precedente, avevo studiato pagina 203.
2. Il mese scorso ho costruito una casa grande. Il mese precedente avevo costruito una casa piccola.

Esercizio A: Decide whether the following sentences are true for you. Correct the ones which are false. 1. When I was sixteen, I had already graduated from high school.
Esercizio B: "Too late". When these people arrived, it was already too late. Describe the situation following the example. Maria phones Franca. Franca went out. When Maria phoned (passato prossimo) Franca, Franca had already gone out. (trapassato)
