No article is used with the prepositions a, di, and in in certain expressions:
a casa
a scuola
esco di casa
certain rooms in a house with in: in cucina, in salotto, in sala da pranzo, in bagno...
certain buildings and areas of the city with in: in biblioteca, in ufficio, in chiesa, in centro, in piazza...

- Numeri. We reviewed a few special things to remember about Italian numbers:
cento. mille. un millione.
due cento. duemila.
60 milioni di abitanti.
You cannot say "fifteen hundred". You must say "millecinquecento".
When you are talking about a year: Il millenovecentonovantasei. Il duemiladieci.
When you are talking about "In a year": Nel millenovecentonovantasei. Nel duemiladieci.


- Numeri. We matched dates with eventi della storia d'Italia:
Il millenovecentoquarantacinque: La morte di Mussolini.
Il duecento dopo Cristo: La ricostruzione del Panteon a Roma.
Il milleduecentonovantatré: Marco Polo è tornato dalla Cina in Italia.
Il milletrecentoventuno: La morte di Dante Alighieri.
Il settecentocinquantatré avanti Cristo.: La fondazione di Roma.

- Costruzione reciproca: "Telefono a Susanna." "Telefono a Hannah." "Ci telefoniamo!"
"Ho telefonato a Susanna." "Ho telefonato a Hannah." "Ci siamo telefonate!"
"Vedo Susanna." "Vedo Hannah." "Ci vediamo!"
"Ho visto Susanna." "Ho visto Hannah." "Ci siamo viste!"
"Saluto Susanna." "Saluto Hannah." "Ci salutiamo!"
"Ho salutato Susanna." "Ho salutato Hannah." "Ci siamo salutate!"

Notice that verbi reciproci take essere in the past! So the participio has to agree!

esercizio B. Signor Rossi's day. The day of Signor Rossi. Change the following passage. Start with "Ieri, signor Rossi..." and use the passato prossimo. Then, starting with "La signora Rossi..." rewrite the passage again (still using the passato prossimo, but this time changing the verbs to agree with a feminine subject where necessary). Remember, passato prossimo with essere agrees with the subject, but passato prossimo with avere does not agree. Reflexive verbs always take essere. (click here for the answers)

2. Pagina 189. "Scrivere". Imagine that you have to pack your bags for a long trip in Europe. What things do you have to take with you if you go to the following places during the following seasons: (listed in the box)
